Venice is transformed into a large outdoor classroom for preschool and middle school children thanks to an original educational initiative: the Gondola school for children in Venice.
This project - implemented in collaboration between the City Council and the Gondoliers' Association - offers little ones the unique opportunity to explore the city from the water, aboard the iconic gondolas.

The first stage of the Gondola school for children in Venice involves 18 children, aged between 3 and 5, from the Spallanzani Comprehensive Institute in Mestre.
Accompanied by their teachers, these young explorers prepare to board five gondolas, ready to set off on an unforgettable journey to discover the canals of Venice. An extraordinary adventure for the little ones of Venice!

The journey of the Gondola school for children in Venice starts from San Tomà, from where the gondolas head along the picturesque Frari canal, and then cross the majestic Grand Canal along rio di San Polo.
Along the way, children will have the opportunity to take a close look at the city's architectural treasures, its picturesque bridges and the wonderful views that only Venice can offer.

Aldo Reato, councilor delegated to the Enhancement of the Gondola in the mobility system of the Ancient City, stresses the importance of these educational initiatives.
"The gondola allows us to savor Venice in a slow way, as if we were in another historical era," he says. "
With this initiative we want to introduce the rich cultural heritage of our City to school children, starting from kindergarten through middle school."

In addition to involving other preschools in the historic center, the project includes appointments at elementary school in Murano, Burano and Giudecca, and finally a secondary school in Mestre.
