Venice, the city of waters and architectural wonders, is preparing to experience a magical Christmas with a series of extraordinary events that will entertain families and children alike.

The packed calendar of activities begins on December 14, and culminates in a Sunday, the 17th, full of festivities and performances.

The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the "Santa Claus Race." Scheduled for Sunday, the 17th, this exciting event will take place in the picturesque Campo Santa Margherita.

The 7-kilometer route is designed to please both running enthusiasts and families eager to participate in this fun Christmas moment.

Along the Grand Canal, on the same day at 11:00 a.m., Santas will start an enchanting water parade, departing from San Zaccaria and arriving in front of Ca' Foscari.

Markets, regattas and performances

From Thursday, Dec. 14 to Saturday, Dec. 16, the picturesque San Francesco della Vigna will host Christmas markets with handcrafted creations, workshops and magic shows for the little ones.

The 11th Santa Claus Valesana Regatta is open to Champion Men, Champion Women and Amateur Men categories, bringing a unique touch of Christmas competition along the course.

Burano and other islands celebrate Christmas

Burano is no different in its adherence to Christmas celebrations.

The first edition of the markets in the Pescheria area (12:00 to 7:30 p.m.) will light up the island with Christmas colors and atmosphere.

On Saturday 16, Santa Claus will arrive by boat bringing with him a load of sweets and hot chocolate.

Murano will also join the party with an atmospheric boat procession organized by the Gruppo Remiero.

Musical atmosphere in Mestre

In Mestre, starting tomorrow, Thursday 14, music will take center stage from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., thanks to performances by the Knox Grammar School Sydney, composed of young talent.

The weekend, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17, will see double choral performances in Piazza Ferretto, featuring artists from the Fenice Choir.
